What Is PreK E.S.E.?

Prek Exceptional Student Education is a program provided by Miami-Dade County Public Schools System. The program is for children with disabilities , ages 3 to 5. Children must be 3 years of age and have been evaluated to enter the prekindergarten program.

Certified teachers work with prekindergarten children with the following disabilities:

  • autistic
  • developmentally delayed
  • dual sensory motor impaired
  • educable mentally handicapped
  • emotionally handicapped
  • deaf/hard of hearing
  • physically impaired
  • profoundly mentaly handicapped
  • traumatic brain injured
  • visually impaired

Prekindergarten children participate in a variety of educational activities during the school day, which runs from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. During the school day those who qualify recieve: speech therapy, occupational therapy, and or physical therapy.
