Exceptional Student Education is a program provided by
Miami-Dade County Public Schools System. The program is
for children with disabilities , ages 3 to 5. Children
must be 3 years of age and have been evaluated to enter
the prekindergarten program.
Certified
teachers work with prekindergarten children with the
following disabilities:
- autistic
- developmentally
delayed
- dual
sensory motor impaired
- educable
mentally handicapped
- emotionally
handicapped
- deaf/hard
of hearing
- physically
impaired
- profoundly
mentaly handicapped
- traumatic
brain injured
- visually
impaired
Prekindergarten
children participate in a variety of educational
activities during the school day, which runs from 8:30 AM
to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. During the school day
those who qualify recieve: speech therapy, occupational
therapy, and or physical therapy.
